I was commissioned by a friend to shoot an homage to Hannah Glucksteins (Gluck) 'YouWe' or 'Medallion'. Gluck painted herself and her lover in 1936. It was a radical depiction of same-sex partnership.

A favourite artist of the couple, this image in particular evoked a certain something they wanted to give a hat-tip to for his 80th birthday. A fitting present.

I spent quite some time experimenting with lighting, diffusors & scrim on my own prior to the shoot to make sure I was happy with the results I wanted to achieve. And the above is the resulting image chosen by the couple from their contact sheet. The only retouching done on this was removal of lint and a few stray hairs. Other than that it was straight out of camera.
